About the Masterclass

The masterclass is a comprehensive, two-day session on FinTech, Privacy and Data Protection. It is organised for lawyers who are one to seven years at the Bar, and will be facilitated by Naomi Amobi and Michael Heider of Paystack, Nurudeen Odeshina of International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP ), Nigeria Chapter and Olumide Babalola of Olumide Babalola LP.

To deliver the masterclass, we are partnering with the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), FinTechNGR, and the NDPR Academy. As part of our partnership arrangement with the NDPR Academy, participants who intend to further their journey in Privacy and Data Protection at the end of the Masterclass have the opportunity to enroll for the Academy’s introductory course coming up in September at an exclusive 50% discount.

Michael Heider

Head of Compliance, Paystack

Michael has twelve years in-depth experience in Financial Crime Compliance within financial institutions and consulting firms, covering 40+ countries in Europe and Africa. He is highly specialized in Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud Prevention, and Anti-Corruption with distinctive managerial, technological, social and communication skills. Michael has a proven track record of setting up and managing Compliance Departments as well as bringing cultural change and encouraging organizations to set the “tone at the top”. He is currently the Head of Compliance at Paystack, where he is responsible for Paystack’s Compliance and Data Protection programme in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

Naomi Amobi

Legal and Regulatory Counsel, Paystack

Naomi is the Legal and Regulatory Counsel at Paystack. Her role involves managing the regulatory aspects of Paystack’s ongoing pan-African expansion and monitoring the development of applicable laws and regulations that affect the FinTech ecosystem. She was previously a Senior Associate at Aluko & Oyebode (A&O) and a member of A&O’s Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) team. She has a keen interest in supporting the creation of regulatory frameworks that encourage innovation and allow start-ups to scale.

Nurudeen Odeshina

Co-chair, International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP ), Nigeria Chapter

Nurudeen has several years of experience in the IT Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) standards implementation and training. He is a highly skilled specialist and certified trainer with specialized knowledge in Information Security, Information Assurance, Governance, Data Protection, Privacy, Management of Information Technology (IT), Risk Management, Systems Security, IT Controls, Compliance, and Internal Control. He is the currently the Co-Chair of the IAPP – International Association of Privacy Professionals, Nigeria Chapter and leads IT Security, Data Protection and Privacy at the leading African exploration and production company.

Olumide Babalola

Author, Casebook on Data Protection

Olumide, author of Casebook on Data Protection (Nigeria’s first and only law textbook on data protection), is a prolific digital rights, consumer rights, privacy, and data protection lawyer who has litigated on Privacy and Data Protection, Cybercrime, Hate Speech, Freedom of Information, Online Freedom of Expression, passage of laws protecting digital rights among others. Olumide is the managing partner of Olumide Babalola LP.

He is a seasoned Conference speaker at local and international fora and has five published books to his credit. Olumide is a member Internet Society, Internet Governance Forum Support Association (IGFSA), World Litigation Forum, and International Network of Privacy Law Practitioners. (INPLP) et al.
